Welcome to Willows Pediatric Group
We love kids and are passionate about what we do every day. We practice state-of-the-art medicine in an environment dedicated to the health and well-being of your family.
For 50 years, Willows Pediatric Group has served our community by providing comprehensive and compassionate medical care for infants, children and adolescents. Drawing from decades of experience, we are able to continually add new services and incorporate medical advances in a way that continues to make us a leader in pediatrics in our community. Our physicians, physician assistants, nurses and staff look forward to getting to know you and your children.
Let us show you why we are one of Fairfield County’s premier newborn, pediatric and adolescent practices.
Flu, RSV & COVID Vaccines
Each fall we try to prepare our patients for the coming winter virus season with all of the available vaccines. We have the annual flu vaccine, recommended for all children over 6 months of age. Additionally, we have Beyfortus, a monoclonal antibody injection that protects young infants from RSV, infants less than 8 months are eligible (and those in their second winter with some select, significant medical problems). Here is more info about: RSV/Beyfortus. And, we will offer the COVID vaccine to the very young children who cannot get it at the pharmacy.
All of these vaccines can be given at your child’s well visit in our office (depending on seasonal availability). Additionally, we can give them at urgent/sick visits as long as your child’s illness is mild and does not include fever. For children who do not have check ups in the fall and who don’t need to see us for an urgent visit, we have the following clinics, this page will be updated as more dates/times become available.
Flu vaccine clinic info:
Its that time of year again! We recommend everyone 6 months of age and older get their shot anytime now. Flu activity in our area usually peaks around November. So "Flu before boo" as we like to say, in other words: get your flu shot before Halloween. Keep in mind, all children under 5 years old in preschool or daycare are required to have the flu vaccine each year per state law.
One small change, if your child has an egg allergy, they can now get the flu vaccine in one of our clinics. They no longer need an appointment with their doctor or allergist. This is based on the CDC reviewing the frequency of allergic reactions to flu vaccine and finding that they occur in approximately 1.3 per 1 million flu vaccines given. Very, very rare!
All kids need one annual flu shot. However, if your child is less than 9 years old and has not had 2 prior flu vaccines in their lifetime, then they need a booster of this year's flu vaccine. The booster dose is the same as the initial dose, just 28 days later. This has always been the case, nothing new here, just a reminder.
Please note that this year all clinics will be in the office and by appointment only. Please call us to schedule an appointment.
You must be an established patient of Willows who has been seen in the office and will need to show a valid insurance card at the time of your appointment. Before your appointment, please print and fill out the 2024 Injectable Flu Administration Sheet. If someone other than a parent/guardian is accompanying your child for the flu vaccine, we require a signed note with parental permission to give the vaccine.
